Answer
In general I do not use 6volts on helicopter radio systems. I know of very few advantages and have heard of several failures using it. The 5000 will probably handle 6volts but there are no real advantages of using 6 volts. I know it will handle 4.8volts with no problems.
I believe the 8700G (noramlly used with G5000T) does not work properly with PPM mode.
